Spilled Buttermilk!

Two weekends ago, Buttermilk and I fished a small lake near my house. The lake is less than 100 acres but the fishing is suppose to be pretty good for Bass and Crappie. We arrived at the lake around 7:00am. The weather was partly cloudy and the temperature was in the low 40s. A light wind was blowing across the lake and we hoped it didn't pick-up.
Fishing was slow for the first hour and a half but picked up. Here’s Buttermilk with a Small Largemouth and checkout Buttermilk’s Lucky Elmer Fudd cap. While fishing, we noticed a moss covered turtle about the size of a dinner plate swimming around. It was obvious that it was injured.
Buttermilk lifts it up with his paddle and you could see that fishing line was wrapped around its neck and head. We removed as much of the old line as possible, but it appears the turtle has ingested the hook, too bad.
Again here’s Buttermilk with his catch, a nice Largemouth.
So far I have caught zero fish and this brings up the question, Is it the fish, or the fisherman that’s the problem?  To find out Buttermilk gives me his lure that is catching all the fish. You wouldn't believe this but an hour and half later my luck gets worse. I can’t even catch a fish on the lure that’s has been catching all the fish. Now it’s obvious, it’s the fisherman. But……..it could be that Lucky Elmer Fudd cap (Fishing Note #1: Put Elmer Fudd cap on my Christmas list when I get home). I decided to take my kayak, bad luck and paddle around the lake to take a few more photos.

Signs of beavers present.
Active Beaver lodge, but no Beavers!
The wind started to increase which made it difficult to fish, so it was time to head back.
There’s one thing you must know when you Kayak with Buttermilk. Always, repeat.......Always have your camera ready when he is either getting in or out of his Kayak. There’s an 80% chance that his butt will get wet.
YUP, Spilled Buttermilk! As you can see, he always comes up smiling and his Lucky Elmer Fudd cap stays dry. Hope you enjoyed. Remember, get away from the big screen and get on a big stream.

A Fishy Story!

A redneck with a bucket of LIVE fish was approached recently by a game warden as he started to drive his boat away from a lake. The game warden asked the man, “May I see your fishing license please?”

“Naw, sir, “replied the redneck. “I don’t need any of them there papers. These here fish are my PET FISH.”

“Pet fish??” replied the warden.

“Yep, once a week, I bring these here fish of mine down to the lake and let them swim round for a while. Then I whistle and they swim right back into my net and I take’em home.”

What a line of bull…. you’re under arrest.”

The redneck said, “It’s the truth, Mr. Gov’ment man. I’ll show ya! We do this all the time!!”

The warden smirked and said “You do, do you, PROVE IT!” The redneck released the fish into the lake and stood and waited. After a few minutes, the warden said, “Well?”

“Well, Whut?” said the redneck. The warden asked, “When are you going to call them back?” “Call who back”said the redneck. “The FISH,” replied the warden! “Whut fish?” asked the redneck.

Red Fox Video on the Patio!

I have been trying to get a video of a Wiley Old Fox that has been stealing cat food from around our house. I used a critter cam with motion detection and so far have a raccoon, a possum and a still photo of this Old Fox, but I wanted video. So this time I was determined. OK, I admit it. I baited the patio. I used Fox pee, Yep I said Fox pee and some bread to bring him near critter cam. I sprayed the pee all around and tossed out bread. Boy, that Fox pee is smelly. Over spray ended up on my sleeve and when I came back inside, I was attacked by the cat. Anyway, it worked. I am no Nat Geo, but I am the proud owner of  "Red Fox on The Patio" coming to theaters near you, not. I will show it to the wife and prove that it was a Red Fox stealing cat food. Look close and you can tell it's an Old Male Fox which is certainly mangy. Check it out and leave a comment, Thanks.

What's in your Woods?

I have a critter cam with a motion detector that I sit out in the woods at night to see what wanders pass. Recently, we have sighted a Red Fox and even captured a still photo of this critter. I'm not satisfied with a still photo, I want a video because the wife thinks it's more Coyote than Fox.
The other night I placed critter cam near the last sighting area in hopes of proving it's a Fox. Hopefully the video will show the critter, but you never know what's happening in the middle of woods during the night while you are all snug in your bed. The next day I was excited because critter cam indicated that a video had been taken. I quickly took it inside and placed the card in the laptop. Here's the video.
Hope you enjoyed! What's in your Woods, River, Lake or Bay?

Dang, Fly!!!

I have been drawing all the graphics in this blog with a mouse, which is like using a paint brush to write a letter. Now, I have purchased the proper drawing gear to hopefully make things look much better. In addition, I just purchased the domain name for BaitRageous.com which I currently have linked to Old field Studio which has my lake art. I am not sure where I am headed with all this, but I do have some plans. You know what they say-"Do what you love to do and you will never work a day in your life."  For me, other than the family, I love the outdoors, creativity, and drawing. So far I've been lucky and I can now test this theory. I will keep you posted. Here is my first BaitRageous cartoon using my new drawing gear. Hope you laugh!!!

My Five Fish Blogs!

What are five fish blogs? Well, they are kind of like five star hotel's, but better. These bloggers are one's that I find entertaining, interesting, informative, knowledgeable, down to earth, humorous and they are true outdoors men and women.

RAINBOW CHASER
A great blog that has some really good stories. Mel is from Idaho and is chasing them rainbows. My favorite story's include Fishing and Marriage Counseling, Why I Don't Fly Fish Anymore, Kamloops Rainbow with a Story and the Amazing Story of the Lost Rod. Mel's post of "The Fathers Day Trout" has a reader approved award from the Outdoor Blogger Network. Go check out his blog, it's five fish approved! Click right here http://www.rainbow-chaser.net/

BULLETS AND BISCUITS
A wonderful humorous blog that can best be described by her home page. A smidgen of southern sass, pinch of gun toting, hint of drunkenness, sprinklin of redneck, dash of white trash, scoop of hillbilly, tad of old school, drop of hunteress, and garnish w/ badass-ness. Combine all the ingredients and sit back and enjoy. Go check out her blog, it's too funny and five fish approved! Click right here http://bulletsandbiscuits.blogspot.com/
