Reduce screen time and increase stream TIME!

 We are settling into a new year and it's hard to beieve that it's 2023. My new years resolution is to reduce screen time and increase "STREAM TIME"! You don't need to have a difficult resolution, a fun one is just fine. I have been so busy during the holiday season that I didn't add any cartoons in this post, so stay tuned...  

Anyway, need a beautiful map of your favorite lake, river or bay? Well, not only do I love lakes and rivers and bays, I paint them too. 

My maps make great gifts and will bring back memories of those trips to that favorite lake. Don't forget to look for the hidden mermaid in the lake waters and other interesting things......

I must be doing something right! I'm finally getting my ten minutes of fame, sort of. Interestingly, I got a call from, now get this.......a major studio in California. They are filming a new tv series for mid-season. They want to use one of my big lake maps as a prop in the series. It won't come out for a few months, but I'm hoping that it will be prominently displayed in the series. I will have more news about this later......

Not Key West, but starts with an M...

That's right, beautiful Manasota Key! I've walked this beach many times. I was surpised by how many sharks teeth can be found at the waters edge. The water is very clear and dolphins swim pass often. Fortunately, the area has not become overly congested like many other parts on Florida. It still has an old Florida feel. Check-out this map I did of Manasota Key at LeoLakes.com.

Best Lake Michigan gift

Beautiful Lake Michigan! I have been working on this map of Lake Michigan that is a gift for a lake lover in Michigan. I've been to Lake Michigan a few times, mostly near Chicago. I always get that feeling that I'm near a sea. See more maps at LeoLakes.com.

We got damage from Hurricane Ian

 It has been about a month since I have posted on Oldfield Studio, why? Well, It has a lot to do with Hurricane Ian that hit Florida. We have a small place in Englewood Florida and it was damaged. Luckily, we didn't have catastrophic damage, but the park that we are in took some pretty high winds. The hurricane passed right over, with winds over 110 mph. 

We have been down, repairing the damage, cleaning up and helping others. Here is a few photos that I took that shows the extent of the damage.

Interestingly, we had a piece of metal come thur the wall of our place. it knocked a clock off the wall and the batteries fell out. The time was 4:26 pm. 

It is a sad situation because some folks live there full time and completely lost their home. I can't imagine the distruction in Ft Mryers, Sanibel Island etc...

Is Greers Ferry a Beautiful Lake?

 Greers Ferry Lake is a beautiful Lake! It's almost like two lakes in one by its shape. Interestingly, I can tell you that this is a beloved lake from speaking with the many of the customers who order this map. In fact, a few years ago, I was asked to allow this map image be printed in a regional Greers Ferry magizine. I was amazed by the response for the printing in the magazine. In the waters of this Greers Ferry Lake Map, I try to make the map interesting by hiding tiny little things in the waters. Folks start looking for them and can't stop. 

I love to add the local waterfowl flying over the lake. It almost looks like they are floating. Also, if you have a point of interest, like a lake house, I can add a star and wording to indicate its location. 

Also, I dabble in cartoons, mostly lake, bait and fishing. Sometimes they are funny and sometimes, not so much. Check'm out and let me know...

I'm working on a map of  Telllico Lake located in Tennessee. I have never been to this lake. I did some research and the lake is 16,000 acres. It is a very clean lake and has over 350 miles of shore line, that would take you a while to walk...  Interestingly, I add fish jumping around in most of my painted lake maps. Normally, I will add a large mouth bass or two, or three. I try to add interest and make it more than a map. I like to say they are treasured map. 

Here's a few cartoons of my lake humor, some oddes but goodies...I think that adrift is my farvorite cartoon! I will say that I am  bobber man...

I'm thinking that there's some trouble in this relationship...
