Birds are becoming smarter….
Last week, I was doing what I love to do, being on a lake, river or bay. Anyway, I learned something. Do you remember the movie “The Birds”? Well, this ain’t it, but it's sort of like it....I was in Florida walking on the Venice pier. I caught this pigeon looking at me with big red eyes.
So I did. Yep, he was thirsty. He drank for about 3-4 minutes and flew off. That's one intelligent bird!
Later that day, I went to Mickey D's for lunch and proceeded through the drive. I got lunch and as I was driving out, there was an unexpected Ibis looking at me on a fence rail at the exit.
As you can see, my maps make a great gift. Click here www.LeoLakes.com for more information.

Stunning Lake Maps for the Lake house
Stunning LAKE MAPS for the lake House, I completed this big map of Greers FerryLake for a customer that has a lake house overlooking the lake. Ain't she pretty! She's 2 feet by 4 feet, and all dressed up in a beautiful frame, ready to go to the lake house warming party. You will be so proud when you walk in with her on your arm, prettiest gift at the party.
As you can see, my maps make a great gift. Orders will picking up during the holidays, so order soon. Click here www.LeoLakes.com for more information.
Just remember: "Life is short, get away from the big screen and get on a big stream".

Oldfield Studio Wasp
A wasp got into the Leo Lakes Studio. Some people see a wasp, but I see a big, ugly, rusty red, flying, killing machine! You see, I'm allergic to wasp stings. If I get stung, my throat will close-up and I cant breath. I have to down a healthy dose of Benadryl and take a trip to the hospital. I normally sit in the hospital parking lot hoping that the Benadryl will kick in, usually it does. When I get back home, the Benadryl will cause me to take a long nap. The bottom line is a very bad day! Anyway, I decided that I had too many maps to do and I had to battle the wasp, which is typically the case.
I got my Ninja on and grabbed a paddle. Just about that time I spotted the big, ugly, rusty red wasp. I swung the paddle toward the wasp and missed, but did three thousand dollars in damage to a bunch of frames, just kidding. I did destroy a map box. The big, ugly, rusty red wasp got away. The rest of the day, I nervously worked on maps while keeping an eye out for that big, ugly, rusty red wasp that actually could kill me. Luckily, the next day I found the big, ugly, rusty red wasp died.
Enough about the wasp, check-out my Lake, River, and Bay maps! Here's a few, they look great in the lake house and make great gifts.

How to display an antique outboard motor
I have 1946 Western Auto Wizard outboard motor that I inherited from my dad. I've been working on how to display the motor. I keep a lot of old stuff like, paddles, floats, lures, etc... and thought that it would look good next to the maps. in this photo you can see the motor on the floor.
The major question: What to build to support the motor? My idea is to build a 2ft x 3ft up-right panel with legs and add a drawing showing the underwater with a boat on the surface. Here's the background that I used. I added a few bass, catfish, and bream.

Hottest New Fishing Trend
Oh man, there's a new fishing trend out there that's hotter than a 4th of July firecracker! Now that's hot!!! It's called "Baitscaping", yep Baitscaping. The fish are going wild over this new fishing technique and the fishermen are too.
It massively increases your size and number....... of fish. Why do fish love it so much? Think about it, do you like something that's wild, hairy, and gnarly? Well some might, but really, with Baitscaping it's like turning chicken shit into chicken salad. You may ask "What is Baitscaping? It's really simple as you can see from this diagram below of the gentlemen using the technique on his bait. How to catch bigger fish, "Baitscape!" You can do it too, go ahead and give it a try.
Oh yeah, don't forget to apply a little bait creme to provide that finished touch. Hey, drop us a line after you try it and let us know how it went.
Remember: "Don't Just Bait, Baitscape!"
Check Out my vintage style Lake, River and Bay Maps! They make really cool gifts. I have over two hundred lake, river and bay maps on my website that can be purchased right from the site, or I can do custom and personalized lake, river or bay maps, too. Leo Lakes Lake House Maps
I've been doing maps for almost eleven years. Interestingly, my studio has grown as my map business has grown. I've been lucky, I have a 24'x24' space that has been dedicated to doing maps. What I find important in my studio is "it must give me a good felling". To achieve this, I fill it with things I like and relates to my art, such as my maps, old things that I have had for years, like outboard motors, shells, lake rocks, bobbers, tackle boxes, anything that relates to my art. It is kind of like walking through a museum. If you toured my studio, you would find it interesting. I have wood chips from a tree a beaver was downing, sharks teeth, crinoids (Indian money), any interesting thing that I pick up at the shore. On my back wall, I display my maps, along with paddles, lures etc....
In this 24'x24' space, I paint the map in watercolors, scan it, print it, frame it, box it and lastly, ship it. I love doing lake house maps.
I do a lot of work on this table. I inspect the printed maps, sign and number them and high light areas with a brush and paint.
